Always so pleasant Cottager Day!
On Saturday 27.7. the yard of Paalasmaa Camping was crowded of cottagers. This year we broke the visitor record: we had over 1500 guests! Traditionally, the ferry of Hirvisalmi was congested, but in spite of that the people was watching the show and spending their day with a smile on their faces: old friends, local entrepreneurs, with out talking the tasty fish soup.
This year's program included music from local band called Tuomi (we also heard their new single, Mökkiläispäivänä (On the Cottager Day)!), beauty contest and the vehicle show of Polvelan papattajat, a show made by kids of the circus camp, a charity auction and some log-virtuosity by the brothers of Mikkola. There was also something for kids: a fishing contest, horse riding and a stunt spot made by the municipal department of free time.
There were also a few speeches: the director of Metsähallitus, former citizen of Juuka Pentti Hyttinen, the Mayor Markus Hirvonen, municipality representative Pinja Konttinen and the event organizer, municipal director of the country side Alina Koponen. The event and the auction were hosted by the multifunctional member of Polvelan papattajat, Ari Koivuselkä.
