Paksuniemi Harbour is situated along the boating route between Savonlinna and Joensuu and serves tourists, boaters, campers and locals from the beginning of May to the end of September.

Paksuniemi offers harbour services, saunas, swimming beaches, accommodation, art exhibitions and a café-restaurant with summer terrace.

Situated in the centre of town, this local history museum displays historic farming artefacts.

Paksuniemi Mill and Dairy Farm Museum

This museum centre in Paksuniemi includes a historic drying barn, smoke cabin and smoke sauna that have been transported to the area. In summertime the centre hosts an art and sales exhibition, and there is also an environmental art trail.

Kotista Toy Museum

Situated in an old log house that has been traditionally restored, Kotista Toy Museum presents toys from the late 1800s to the present. There is also a small museum shop.

Open mainly by appointment – please call before visiting. Admission: 5 € adults, 3 € children, 4 € groups. The minimum group size is 10 persons.

Memorials and statues in Rääkkylä

Memorial to Esa Pakarinen. Stone statue with a relief designed by artist Kauko Kortelainen. Esa Pakarinen was an actor and entertainer who was born in the village of Hernevaara in Rääkkylä. The statue can be found near the municipal building (Kinnulantie 4).
