Valamo prayer path 3.3 km

The route of Valamo's prayer path leads from the monastery cemetery to an atmospheric prayer forest. At the destination, the walker will find a small hermit's hut inviting silence, with prayer books and icons. The profile of the path is significantly more challenging than the pilgrim's cross route. About 1 km is more demanding trail and the remaining 2.3 km is easy gravel road or asphalt.  

Good terrain-appropriate footwear. Running shoes suffice well.

The starting point is in front of the main gate of Valamo Monastery. The prayer path markings are orange. Start walking along the asphalt road towards the bridge. After crossing the bridge, at about half a kilometer, the route turns right. After 200 m, the monastery cemetery is on the left. At this stage, the prayer path turns into a circular loop, with the left side being a path through the forest and the right side a forest service road.
