Trails in front of the Koli fells on frozen lake, 13 km
An easy ice track in front of Koli that you can do as the whole 13 km or in shorter loops, connecting the illuminated trail to the downhill ski resort.
Description
The 13 kilometer trail allows skiers of all levels to enjoy the national landscapes on the lake Pielinen in winter time. The route starts from Nikkilänkuja, the parking lot at the harbour junction, from where it is also connected to the illuminated xc-ski trails. The first few hundred meters follow alongside Kolin Rantatie. Near the cottages of Koli Aamuranta, the route descends onto the frozen lake Pielinen. The route curves far enough from the shore so that the view of the Koli fell ridge opens beautifully for the skier. The turning point of the route is at the shore near the ski slopes, from where you can do more towards the small islands in two loop options in length, or follow the same path back to the starting point. This trail is best enjoyed on sunny spring days!
