The charming Ketunlenkki of Reposuo
Ketunlenkki is a varied, colorful hiking trail through protected peatland nature near the Lieksa urban area.
Description
The diversity of peatland nature in North Karelia delights hikers in Reposuo and Kalliolahti. Every day you can experience new colors, sounds, and scents. The scenery varies from open bogs to ridges, shore landscapes, and ornithologically valuable wetlands. Ketunlenkki circles and partly crosses the peatland area, so the day trip offers opportunities for birdwatching, exploring diverse peatland nature, and berry picking. In winter, Ketunlenkki is an excellent destination for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Ketunlenkki is about 12 km long, with boardwalks over the wettest parts, and there are three maintained rest spots along the way. Nature observation is excellent without disturbing wildlife from the Ulkkajoki observation tower and viewing platform as well as along Ketunlenkki. The viewing platform is partly accessible for people with mobility impairments.
A very nice approx. 2 km trip for children starts from the observation tower. Walking on boardwalks, you balance over a magnificent bog, and before the Kaiskunniemi rest spot, you should greet the rock ledge, beside which you can take the sweetest photos of the trip. Return is along the same route.
