Surmilampi Trail, Liperin Kinttupolut
Surmilampi Trail winds over majestic pine ridges and along the shores of beautiful kettle ponds. Along the route, there are three lean-tos where you can take a snack break.
Description
Surmilampi Trail is the most challenging route on Liperin Kinttupolut. The challenge comes especially from about 200 meters of ascent over just 6.5 km. The technical difficulty of the trails varies from easy forest roads to challenging cobblestone paths. Combined with steep climbs and descents, this route provides a challenge even for more advanced riders. Surmilampi Trail is marked on the terrain with turquoise color.
A special feature of the route is the large round depressions called kettles, which have formed during the Ice Age as large ice blocks melted amidst the gravel ridges.
Liperin Kinttupolut network includes a total of eight excellently marked routes in addition to the downhill routes of the Pärnä Bike Park.
Liperin Kinttupolut are connected via an 8 km long Connecting Route to the Lykynpolut trail network, and from there further via Jaama Trail to other uniformly marked routes in the Joensuu region. The total length of marked routes is just under 200 km, so you can easily spend several riding days on them!
