Description
The Canal route offers an unforgettable bike route in the lake and canal landscapes of Heinävesi. The route combines idyllic gravel roads, pleasant asphalt, and an exciting trail section. Along the way, you can enjoy the peace of Lintula Monastery, explore the history of the Taivallahti and Varistaipale canals, and cross the narrow wooden bridge over Koskijärvi – a perfect moment to pause! The charming Café Ronttopuisto makes a suitable resting place where you can indulge and breathe. The route is suitable for cyclists in normal condition, and a small walk on the trail section only adds to the sense of adventure. The rapids of Palokki along the way are a fantastic addition. The Nälönvirta dam above the rapids may be dismantled in the near future, which would enable endangered lake trout and lake salmon to access their breeding areas and crown this gem of Eastern Finnish nature.
