Route of the peaks’ snowshoeing - Snowshoeing in the national landscape of Koli National Park
Travel through the finest panoramic views of Koli, admire the vast ice surface of Lake Pielinen below, or the snow-covered trees crowned by the sunset.
Description
The route takes you to the fairytale-like winter forest of Koli National Park and to the edge of majestic landscapes. From the first stage of the route, the peak of Akka-Koli, you look out over the rolling fell landscape to the west, and to the south you can see the famous Vesivaara from your viewpoint. Below the Akka-Koli viewpoint you will find the popular wedding site, the Temple of Silence. Through the forest, you walk to charismatic Paha-Koli, whose rock ledge has inspired the wildest stories. The highlight of the route and the most popular attraction in Koli National Park, the peak of Ukko-Koli, opens up to Finland’s most famous national landscape: breathtaking snowy fells, ice-covered Lake Pielinen far to the north, and winding shoreline with numerous islands to the south.
