Pielisjoki: Niputtaja-Kuurana power plant
Description
Along the way, paddlers are treated to diverse river nature, numerous islands, and abundant waterfowl. Pielisjoki was once a mighty, free-flowing salmon river, and its history can still be felt in the river's landscapes. There are several beautiful sandy spits along the riverbanks, which especially during low water times emerge and offer great resting places. On a warm summer day, it's nice to land there to enjoy a picnic and take a refreshing dip in the river water.
There are permanent residences and summer cottages along the river, so paddlers should be considerate of the shoreline residents and observe good manners. Boats also move on Pielisjoki and logs are still floated down, which is good to keep in mind when planning a trip.
The Pielisjoki paddling route is a perfect choice when you seek a beautiful, easily accessible, and safe paddling destination where nature, history, and summer relaxation meet.
