A demanding two-way route requiring good mountain biking skills. Ascent / descent 265m. The route offers enjoyable and physically challenging mountain biking and trail running. The starting point is at the Tohmajärvi sports hall. Near the starting point, the route runs mainly on a running track. At the beginning of the route, also note the frisbee golf course located nearby. The route mainly passes through spruce-dominated and lush hilly landscapes. At the top of Hernevaara there is a rest area, also with a table for picnics. From there opens a beautiful view towards Tohmajärvi. The route only has one slightly technically demanding spot, but there are several demanding climbs and descents along the route. In two places, difficult spots are crossed via plank bridges, and the swamp section is a gravel path. Pekan Trail partly connects with the area's nature trails (marked in yellow), which offer additional route options. Nature trails are not maintained for mountain biking. The route connects further to Piilovaara Trail and through it to Kirkkoniemi Trail.
Pekan Trail is a difficult trail, requiring good mountain biking skills. The trail is bidirectional with total ascent/descent of 265m. The trail offers enjoyable but physically demanding challenges for mountain bikers and trail runners. The starting point is located at the Tohmajärvi sport centre, where parking is also available. The closest part of the trail follows ski trails. Please pay attention to the disc golf course close to the trail. The trail goes mainly through lush spruce forests on hilly terrain. At the top of Hernevaara is a rest area from where there is also a beautiful view towards Lake Tohmajärvi. There is only one short technically demanding part, but many demanding uphills and downhills on the trail. There are also boardwalks in two tricky places and one swampy section is repaired with a narrow grave trail. Pekan Trail connects partly with Nature Trails (marked in yellow), which offer more route variations. Nature Trails are in a natural condition and are not specially maintained for mountain biking. Pekan Trail also connects with Piilovaara Trail and through that with Kirkkoniemi Trail.
