- At one of the route's starting points in Kaprakka, there is a swimming hall of Liperi municipality, which is a good place for washing up -> check the swimming hall opening hours
- At the Vaaralampi shelter, you can take a snack break and roast sausages on the campfire
- The Kuoringa beach is accessible from the Pahakala Trail via Honkatuvan road through the underpass under Kuopiontie to the south side of the road, from where it is about one kilometer to the beach along the pedestrian and bicycle path. At the beach there is a kiosk and equipment rental (SUP). Note! Crossing the railway track outside official crossings or underpasses is prohibited.
Pahakala Trail, Liperin Kinttupolut
The Pahakala Trail is the easiest route in Liperin Kinttupolut, mostly running along pine forest needle trails and gravel roads. Along the way, you will find the shelters of Vaaralampi and Huttulampi.
Description
The Pahakala Trail is the easiest route in Liperin Kinttupolut, running variably along pine forest needle trails, ridges, terrain traces, and gravel roads. Due to its ease, it is also excellent for beginner mountain bikers but offers enjoyable riding for riders of all levels. The route has a few hilly and slightly more challenging short sections. Along the way, there are two shelters. The Vaaralampi shelter is located by a small kettle pond in the middle of a dark spruce forest. The Huttulampi shelter is right next to the Kaprakka starting point and is also excellent for families with children. In addition, next to the Kaprakka starting point, there is a swimming hall where you can sauna, swim, and wash according to opening hours!
Near the Pahakala Trail is the Kuoringa beach, which has a long stretch of sandy beach, a kiosk, and equipment rental (SUP boards). The beach is accessible from the Pahakala Trail along Honkatuvan road via the underpass under Kuopiontie to the south side of the highway, from where it is about a kilometer on the pedestrian and bicycle path to the beach. A good spot to visit on a warm summer day for swimming and refreshments!

Location & Parking
Drive from Joensuu along Highway 9 towards Kuopio for about 23 km, exit right at the Kaprakka road junction, cross the railway, then over the intersection straight toward Kaprakka's parking areas. The route's starting point is on the right side of the road.
There is regular bus traffic from Joensuu to Liperi's Käsämä. From the nearest bus stop on Kuopiontie (bus stop name: Käsämä Kaprakka th L), it is 750 meters to the Pahakala Trail starting point at Silmutie.

Directions
The Pahakala Trail is marked on the terrain with a light pink color. It is easy to follow the route thanks to good guidance, but you can download a GPX file or print the Kinttupolut trail map if you wish. At the trail intersections, guide maps make it easy to see your location.
