Monttu Trail is the most versatile mountain biking route in the Harjupolut network, measuring 7 km. The route offers enjoyable needle trails, fast roads, and moderately challenging heathland terrain.
Description
Monttu Trail is a 7 km long, yellow-marked, most versatile route of Utranharju. The route includes enjoyable needle trails, fast roads, and moderately challenging heathland terrain. You can add a relaxed extension by detouring at the eastern end of the ridge to the green-marked and easy 4 km long Utra Trail, which also features a versatile technical track. Whether you ride Utra Trail clockwise or counterclockwise, you always return to Monttu Trail.
The lean-to shelter and toilet, located at the sand pit (the quarry's) edge, offer a nice resting spot with expansive views.
From Lehmo Sports Field to Monttu Trail, follow the pink signs of Lehmonharju Trail or the orange signs of Jaama Trail. The easiest and shortest approach is from the Utra Island parking lot.
Riders on Harjupolut find a swimming beach on Onkilampi Trail, marked in blue. The versatility of the bike circuit is enhanced by fitness stairs near the sports field.
Harjupolut, running along Utranharju, offers mountain bikers four routes of different difficulty levels and a technical track. The area has nearly 20 km of clearly marked trails designed with mountain bikers' needs in mind. Jaama Trail connects Harjupolut to the Joensuu region's trail network, which includes over 200 km of paths: Lykynlammi's Lykynpolku trails, Liperi's Kinttupolku trails, and Kontiolahti's Kontionpolut network. From Kontiolahti trails, one can continue along Kolinpolku all the way to Koli.

Directions
You can access Monttu Trail via the Harjupolut network, which has several parking areas. The nearest parking is at Lehmo Sports Field (Urheilukentäntie 10, Lehmo), from where it is a 2 km ride along Lehmonharju Trail (purple sign color) to the westernmost point of Monttu Trail.
Following the yellow signs of Monttu Trail allows easy navigation through the route. The trail is two-way, but the easier direction is clockwise. Monttu Trail includes many intersections, which are marked with arrows on posts. There are also some intersections with poor visibility, where warning signs are posted. Intersections should be approached carefully, considering other traffic. The route also includes about one kilometer of gravel road, with occasional gravel truck traffic.
