Miniature Koli-like landscapes from Toivontorni in Nurmes

See miniature-Koli-like landscapes from the top of Toivontorni. While climbing to the top of Kohtavaara, you can read information about the area's history and nature from the information boards along the path.

Description

The Kohtavaara nature and history trail runs through varied terrain, featuring natural wonders and a glimpse of history to observe. The route shows smooth bedrock, moss forests, mixed forests, small streams, and ant hills. The path is steep and rocky at times, but rope handrails in the rocky section ease the climb. Along the path are information boards that tell stories about the area's history and nature. The boards also have QR codes so you can view more information on mobile devices.

The Toivontorni tower on the path is a favorite for many; the views from the tower resemble those of Koli National Park. You can enjoy your picnic at the table by the tower.

You can add length to the route by continuing to Elina's swamp section, where Sarkkinen farm ruins are visible.

At the five-path junction, there is an outdoor exercise device available for free use.
