Matin polku
Matin polku winds through the ridge terrain near the Hutsi sports center.
Description
Matin polku is an approximately 2.4-kilometer-long nature trail that starts next to the Sports hall-Swimming hall VesPeli. The trail has been named in memory of the late vicar Matti Hakulinen. The impressive ridges in the Hutsi area have formed over time due to retreating continental glaciers and meltwaters. The slopes of the ridges are covered with beautiful dry forests and diverse vegetation. Along Matin polku, information boards introduce you to the forest's plants and animals, as well as forestry and traces of the ice age in the landscape.
Matin polku’s signposts and maps at intersections should be followed closely, as there is a dense network of outdoor routes in the Hutsi terrain. The worst stony areas are crossed via boardwalks, and otherwise the trail is mostly easy to walk. Matin polku is recommended for those who want to explore the diversity and richness of Finnish nature.
