Lykynlampi (Winter) Trail, Lykynpolut
The Lykynlampi (Winter) Trail is a winding, interesting, and narrow winter-maintained trail. The route is also suitable for beginners, and there is one lean-to shelter along the way.
Description
The Lykynlampi (Winter) Trail winds cheerfully along a narrow winter-maintained track. The route is marked with blue dots and signs. Both in planning and signage, mountain bikers have been well considered. The five-kilometer-long route is also well suited for beginner mountain bikers. A fat bike is the safest choice in winter, but in harder conditions, wide tires (over three inches) also work.
The Lykynlampi Trail crosses both roads and ski tracks and, therefore, requires special attention at times from the traveler.
The Lykynlampi outdoor center is located around the small Lykynlampi pond. The Lykynlampi trails include four marked routes, of which the Lykynlampi (Winter) Trail is the only winter-maintained route. In summer, the Lykynlampi Lykynpolut offer trail experiences for mountain bikers of all levels.
On winter weekends and during the ski holiday week, Joensuu Latu maintains a café at the Lykynlampi outdoor lodge where you can get tasty doughnuts and refreshments.
Location & Parking
There is plenty of free parking space next to the Lykynlampi outdoor lodge.
Directions
The route starts in front of the Lykynlampi ski lodge. The route's guide color is blue, which makes it easy to follow throughout. The route branches into two directions from the yard of the Lykynlampi ski lodge. The recommended direction is from the branch to the left, that is clockwise. The route reaches a road crossing after about one kilometer. Cross carefully, as visibility is short! On the other side of the asphalt road, the route circles about a 2 km loop and comes back to the same road crossing.
The route contains numerous intersections, but each intersection is marked with a post topped with blue paint and arrows pointing in two directions. In wintertime, it is easy to follow the route.
