Lakkapolku - a hiking destination for the whole family in the national park

Colorful circular route around wide swamp landscapes and wetlands

Description

Lakkapolku in Patvinsuo National Park is a great hiking destination for families with children and those who don’t want to walk long distances. Along the route, you can binoculars, take photos, and enjoy the colors and scents of the swamp. The boardwalks are in good condition and cross cheerfully bubbling wetland streams. From the Surkansuo birdwatching tower, you can see swamp patches and a pond where the common goldeneye nests.

On the hike, you will also see a research area where forest regeneration and restoration of the natural state using controlled burning have been studied. Information boards along the trail tell about swamp nature and human activity on the bogs over past decades.

You can enjoy your picnic at the Surkanvaara starting point.
