- Keltasilmän lean-to shelter (about 1.3 km off the route)
Kuikan kierros
The Kuikan Kierros 6.5 km is a very beautiful circular route suitable for a day hike, passing through varied ridge terrain in Petkeljärvi National Park.
Description
The route begins near the Petkeljärvi hiking center. The route marked in yellow is most natural to travel clockwise. Already during the first kilometer, there is an opportunity to extend the route by taking a detour to the 2 km long Korkeasärkä side trail. There are no resting places along the route, but the most magnificent one, the Keltasilmä lean-to shelter between two bodies of water, is just over a kilometer's hike from the route. The Taitajan taival route crosses Kuikan Kierros about 2 km in, and by following this route, you will find the lean-to shelter. The dry ridge paths of the Kierros change in two places into swamp landscapes and boardwalks. The route is intended for use during the snow-free season and is not maintained in winter.
