Koppalo Nature Trail

Along the approximately 3.3 km route, you can explore controlled burn areas, rocky terrain, ponds, swamps, old forest, and a viewpoint opening from Pitkävaara. Due to its age, the area is also very species-rich, allowing you to admire rarer species such as glowing red slime molds and pale pine flowers. The Koppalo nature trail is also known as the Ant's Trail.

Drive about 18 km from the Juua roundabout towards Kaavi. Then turn right onto Koppalanjärventie: continue on this road for about 3.5 km, after which you will see the signposted starting point on the right side of the road.
