Jyri Trail, Liperin Kinttupolut
The Jyri Trail runs through a semi-urban area around Jyrinkylä along pleasant needle paths. The shore trails of four clear-water lakes charm the walker.
Description
The Jyri Trail runs through semi-urban terrain around Jyrinkylä along pleasant needle paths and trails. The trail passes four clear-water lakes, where you can watch the sandy bottoms and fish in several places.
One of the most beautiful spots on the Jyri Trail and all of Liperin Kinttupolut is the plank bridge over Nuottilampi, where you can pause to admire the calming atmosphere of the nature reserve.
The route marked with yellow paint dots and signs has four lean-tos or huts where you can take a snack break during your ride. The campfire sites have weather shelters, dry firewood, a table, and an outhouse.
Jyrinkylä still breathes war history. Paloaukea, located in the middle of the route, is widely known in Finland as the starting place of the events in Väinö Linna’s novel The Unknown Soldier. Nowadays there is a school there and next to it the Defence Forces' storage area built on the site of the old garrison.
The trail has several road crossings, some busier than others. Please cross roads carefully!
Safety
- Roots on the shores of the lakes are slippery in rainy weather.
