Description

The Jyri Trail runs through a semi-urban area around Jyrinkylä along flow paths. The route includes four clear-water lakes whose shore path roots add extra challenge in places. There are a few steeper climbs along the way, where several will need to get off their bike.

One of the most beautiful spots on the Jyri Trail and the entire Liperin Kinttupolut is the footbridge crossing Nuottilampi, where you can linger to admire the calming atmosphere of the nature reserve.

The route marked with yellow paint dots and signs has four lean-tos or cabins where you can take snack breaks during your ride. At the fire sites, in addition to shelter from the weather, there are dry firewood, a table, and an outhouse ready.

The war history still breathes in Jyrinkylä. The clearing called Paloaukea in the middle of the route is widely known in Finland because Väinö Linna’s novel The Unknown Soldier starts events there. Today the site hosts a school and next to it a Defense Forces storage area built on the old garrison site.

The route has several road crossings, some busier. Please take care when crossing!

Safety

  • Roots on the shores of the lake are slippery when wet.
  • Small first aid kit
