The Pärnä Winter Trail, or Heinälampi Winter Trail, is a well-maintained winter route featuring as many as four lean-tos and campfire sites. The route start is from the lower parking lot of Pärnävaara Sports Center. The most beautiful trails are around the Big and Little Heinälampi, where the paths along the shores please the eye. Both lakes have lean-tos located in scenic spots, where it is worth stopping for a snack.
The route constantly has some small and a few larger hills, totaling 160 meters of ascent over the 6.5 km route. The start and finish point has a kota and a reservation kota. The service building on the upper plateau has showers freely available for outdoor enthusiasts. Pärnävaara offers services, with more information available in the linked destinations.
Location & Parking
Drive from Joensuu about 10 km along highway 9 towards Kuopio, exit at junction 21, then follow signs to Pärnävaara Sports Center.
There is regular bus service from Joensuu to Jyrinkylä, from the final stop (Jyrinlenkki) it is a 900m walk along Urheilutie to the Pärnävaara Sports Center, where you best access the routes.

Free parking is available at both the lower and upper plateau parking lots of Pärnävaara Sports Center. It is more convenient to start routes from the lower parking lot (Urheilutie 5A, Ylämylly).
Directions
The Pärnä Winter Trail, also known as Heinälampi Winter Trail, starts from the lower parking lot of Pärnävaara Sports Center (address: Urheilutie 5A). Check the exact starting point of the route from the arrow on the Winter Trail map, which points "right" toward the biathlon ski targets. The route is marked in the terrain with blue Winter Trail signs. The route follows different colored summer routes, and there may be purple, green, or yellow guiding colors on the trees and at intersections.
