This route tip combines the beautiful shores of the Joensuu region, urban nature sites, the sandy ridges of Lykynlampi, and the pine forest needle trails into a 43 km route.
The southern part of the route from Jokiasema to Marjala runs along the shores of Pielisjoki and Pyhäselkä. This section is an easy recreational path, and there are several shops, cafes, and service stations along the way. The route continues from Marjala ABC towards the Lykynlampi area along paths and fitness trails. There are several lean-tos or campfire sites for breaks. There are three swimming beaches on the route.
From Jokiasema to Lykynlampi, the route follows the orange signs of the Jaama Trail. In the terrain of Lykynlampi, the route travels along trails marked with different colors of the Lykynpolku paths.
Overall, the route is suitable even for cyclists with modest terrain skills, as the difficult sections are at most a few hundred meters and can be managed by walking the bike.
Directions
Start from Jokiasema along the orange markings of the Jaama Trail towards Lykynlampi. At first, pass the Joensuu singing stage on the left side. Upon reaching the Lykynlampi outdoor lodge, first follow the blue Lykynlampi trail, the violet Connecting Route, the yellow Mertalampi Trail, again the violet Connecting Route, the blue Lykynlampi Trail, after which you are again at the Lykynlampi lodge. From here, another butterfly loop starts along the Lykynpolku trails around Lykynlampi along the red Lykynvaara trail. Returning from Lykynlampi to Jokiasema, follow the orange Jaama Trail, whose signs are occasionally broken in the urban area. For this reason, it is advisable to have a gpx file loaded on your smart device.
