Koskikierros – A Circular Trail by the Lakes and Rapids of Ruunaa

Experience the nature and rapids of Ruunaa with a tour of two bridges. The varied route runs around the entire Ruunaa camping area and offers experiences for all the senses.

Description

The rapids tour runs along the shores of lakes and sparkling rapids. Along the way you can also enjoy the atmosphere of old spruce trees, the open pine forests and the wonderful colours and smells of the marsh. You can admire the scenery from the Huuhkajanvaara observation tower, cross suspension bridges and see the magnificent Neitikoski.

The hiking trails are fairly easy to follow. The wettest bogs can be crossed on long poles and path bridges have been built over the streams. Along the trail there are conveniently spaced campsites and fireplaces where you can enjoy a picnic lunch and rest. The route is marked on the ground with yellow landmarks.

You should allow 1-2 days for the hike. It is possible to go raft fishing in Hapavitja, Neitikoski, Murrookoski and Siikakoski. You can take a shorter route by crossing the river by boat at Kattilaniemi or Vastuuniemi.
