Kaiskunniemi Nature Trail
Hike along the shores of Lake Pielinen on this unique trail with the lake on both sides - on a narrow ridge called Kaiskunniemi.
Description
This easy route leads you on to the Kaiskunniemi ridge, a unique environment where this narrow 2 km long ridge lays in Lake Pielinen. The trail is technically easy and marked clearly with blue trail markers.
A unique part or this trail is that depending on tha water lavels of the lake, sometimes you migh have to cross a short section through water. This might happen especially in the beginning of the summer season, although the past 2 years this section has been dry througout the summer.
Kaiskunniemi invites to sit down for a break to take in the nature, as it offers a fireplace and a dry toilet available on the trail.
Safety
If you plan on making a fire on the fireplace, remember to check the Wildfire warning status before you head out: https://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/warnings . If the wildfire warning is active, lighting campfires is not allowed.

Author tips:
Depending on the water levels in the lake, there might be a crossing along the ridge where you have to walk through water. On a summer with lower water levels this part might stay dry through the summer season.
