Pielisen museo

Pielisen museo is the local museum of the Lieksa district and famous for its extensive outdoor area, which is indeed the second largest in Finland. In the old log buildings you can sense the unique atmosphere of past centuries.

The open-air museum displays traditional farm houses from three centuries, outbuildings, mills, forest workers’ log cabins and timber floating machinery, farming implements and tools, vehicles, boats, fishing tackle, firefighting equipment etc. The area consists of more than 70 buildings and structures.

The main building includes a ticket office, the museum café and exhibition halls.

The museum is beautifully located by the Lieksanjoki River, a few minutes from the town centre of Lieksa.

Opening hours of the May 15th - Sept 15th: daily 10am–6pm
(closed at Midsummer Eve)
