From Guesthouse to Guesthouse Tours

Northern Karelia is the home of the Finnish national romanticism. It is the enviroment familiar to those, who have read Kalevala, our national epos. The landscape is dominated by hills, which are gentle but large. Typical to Finland, there are lakes every here and there.

Best way to enjoy both the hillviews and the lakeviews is to use both bicycle and canoe. The landscape looks and feels completely different each month as in June it is fresh green, the birds are singing and there is almost no night, in July it can be +30 degrees and there are a lot of flowers, in August the forests are full of berries and in September the autumn colours are at their best.

Karelian kitchen is famous for rich buffet tables with dishes made of pure ingredients such as fish, vegetables, mushrooms and berries. The favourite dish of many locals is Karelian pie, which is a traditional pasty filled typically with rice or smashed potatoes and served with egg butter. These local delicacies you will taste every evening. Every day you get with you a take-away lunch for the trip. Nothing beats the feeling of having a lunch in the middle of the most beautiful nature.
