The Wooden-Juuka (Puu-Juuka) is an old center of Juuka and a great example of the losted building tradition - the original exterior of Wooden-Juuka makes the area nationally unique. The area is located in the triangle between the River of Juuka and two highways. 

Next to the River of Juuka, there was a niche village already in the 1500's. In the end of the 1800's people started to build houses next to the highways and establish multiple shops. The oldest ones of the buildings are from 1800's and 1900's, the youngest from the 1960's. Nowadays the buildings are apartments, business premises and public buildings. Also, you can find several interesting details from the building of Wooden-Juuka: some buildings have pediments, decorative window frames and eave-brackets. The cultural and historical value of the area forms from the wholeness of the area of Wooden-Juuka.

In addition, from the area of Wooden-Juuka you can find the Mill-museum, the Park of the Herralankoski -rapid with its place to wash carpets, old art-buildings of Vikilä, the Nursery of Puuhelmi, Community college, People's House, the Estate of Artists with multiple entrepreneurs, the Majatalo Juuka -inn and lots of else too see and experience.
