Botania – the Botanical Gardens
Joensuun Botania is a botanical garden and tropical butterfly garden, open to the public. With their collection of about 700 species, the greenhouses represent tropical, subtropical summer and winter rain areas and desert. The outdoor garden includes collections of edible, poisonous and medicinal plants as well as spices. In the tropical section you'll be greeted by the cockatoo Juuso. Botania also presents temporary theme exhibitions as well as year-round butterfly and insect collections.

Treetop Adventure Park
Challenge yourself on aerial rope courses built between the treetops of Mehtimäki! The Treetop Adventure Park is a safe, active and fun way to experience nature. It challenges you physically and mentally while balancing yourself in the treetops. There are different levels of courses suitable for all abilities, so come and experience the adventure with us. Our youngest visitor has been just 4 years old and the oldest 74 years old. If your kid can ride a bicycle without training wheels, then they can go on the kids track!

Sinkkola traditional farmyard
In the farmyard, which is maintained by the Joensuu Youth Department, you can get to know farm animals: sheep, chickens, a pony, calves, a horse and bunnies await their visitors. The Summer café Kyyttö is open during farmyard hours.

The authentic way to enjoy the nature in Joensuu - SUP Beginner tour

Learn to stand up paddling in beautiful river and lake environment. All the equipment and professional guidance are included. In SUP beginner tour you will learn all the basics of Stand Up Paddling in an safe enviroment: standing up and getting on the board, how to use the board and the paddle and all the basic paddling techniques.

Only way to really learn paddling is in the water, so after a short brief on the dry land we will go for a paddling tour on the beautiful and clean river Pielisjoki and lake Pyhäselkä. Our professional guide will help you through the tour and give you enough challenges on the board regardless if your are first timer or have done Stand Up Paddling before.
