    The current day of the city, traveling and history. Tour can be arranged to end with a jewelry shop tour by Design Airi Hietala, or with a coffee moment at Old Market Town café. Duration 2 hours.

    Wooden Nurmes tour 
    Walking the beautiful area of Wooden Nurmes by foot. Guide telling about the local history, architecture of the area, crafts workers and current state of the old town. Duration 1,5-2 hours.

    Old Market Town tour
    Walking tour to get acquainted with Old Market Town. Tour takes you to the beautiful Lutheran church and to admire the valuable historical wooden architecture. During the tour you can buy souvenirs in the shops of the Old Market Town, and for the very end for example have coffee and baked goods at the old train station. Duration 2 hours.

    Museum depot of Nurmes 
    Guided tours at the depot area on request. Diesel and steam engines, passenger cars, miniatures and lots of other things to see! Group size 5-10 persons. Price 50€.

    Kiddie hill tour in Wooden Nurmes for children and families 
    Kiddie hill tour takes you on a trip around the Wooden Nurmes area and the life of children in the 1900s. You will hear stories about how people lived in the area during those days, where and how children went to school, what did they learn and what kind of teachers they had. What were the most popular games and hobbies of children of that time. During the trip you can participate in playing some of these old games, hear stories about the people and animals, and learn proverbs and riddles from Nurmes. Duration 1,5 hours. Price 150€/group.

    Shopping tour: Local treats and factory outlet shops in Nurmes 
    In this guided tour, you will visit the Tesema-sock and Sasta clothes factory outlets as well as Bakery shop of Porokylän Leipomo for some baked goods. Duration 3 hours.
    Church Esker walking tour 
    This tour will take you on a historical journey around the area. Guide will walk you through the beautiful church esker to graveyard of fallen soldiers, telling about the history of the area and shows you the oldest and most valuable building of Nurmes area, the old belfry and the monuments of the area.     Guided museum tour of Murtovaara
    Welcome on a time travel journey to hilly landscapes of North Karelia! The Murtovaara museum is the only hilly settlement museum in Finland and it is chosen to be a national reserved area. Museum consists 16 timber buildings from different eras, oldest being the “Ikäpirtti=Age cabin” from the 1700s. Open in July. For groups on request during other times as well. Price 45€/person. Price includes a guided tour to Murtovaara and a Karelian meal at Guesthouse Puukarin Pysäkki.

    Evacuee village tour at Valtimo

    Guided tour in village of Rasimäki. Rasimäki is the biggest village that was established in deep forest and was inhabited by Karelian evacuees in 1948 after Finland lost most of the Karelian lands to Soviet Union. 46 new estates were established in the village and most of the evacuees came from Suojärvi area. As a result of the evacuees moving to Rasimäki, the population of Valtimo rose by over 1000 new inhabitants. Lunch for the tour is served at Guesthouse Puukarin Pysäkki, which offers delicious food honoring the traditional Karelian food culture. Food is made with organic ingredients, which most of have been produced at their own farm. You can also buy the Guesthouse’s famous organic rye bread to take home with you!

    On your way back, you can have a little shopping moment in a teeny tiny shopping paradise called Marjapaikka, which is located in Nuolijärvi close to Puukarin Pysäkki. Marjapaikka is a wonderful place to buy beautiful gifts and decorations, as well as gardening products as the shop has a garden store. Or maybe you want to go and check out Laitalan Lomat travel estate, which also has a local product and produces shop!Price 45€/person. Minimum group sixe 16 persons.
