PYO (pick your own)!

Kaksola berry farm is situated in Outokumpu, 15 km towards Varkaus from the Outokumpu town and 60 km from Joensuu. The farm is near the beautiful lake Juojärvi and open every day in summer offering a friendly and relaxing place to visit for people of all ages. Kaksola has been owned and run the the Kaksonen family for the last three generations since 1884 and some of the old outbuildings are still in use.

The atmosphere is a delightful mixture of old and new. Kaksola is one of the few remaining "pick your own" berry farms in the region. The trail around the farm enables easy observation of summer activities. Our strawberry fields opened to the public in early 1990's. Juicy strawberries and many other kind of cultivated berries are best eaten as soon as they have been picked. Nothing compares to the sun-drenched flavor of farm fresh berries. In North Karfelia strawberries are generally in season from early July through to August. Entry to the farm is free to the pick-your-own field and the fruit will be weighed and priced up at the end in the farm shop.

The little herb garden with over 40 spice and medicial herbs is a resting place in the middle of the farm. Mint, chevril, thyme, lovage, lavender... The garden is full of scents and perfumes, birdsong, buzzing insects and sounds of water. The herb garden is also open for public on the national Open Gardens (Avoimet puutarhat) day on 1 July. Our range of crops have expanded as we have added raspberries, currants, blueberries, gooseberries and seabuckthorn berries to our fruit basket. New harvest potatoes and other farm products are sold in the little farm museum shop. Welcome to Kaksola!

Available between 12 July and 9 August 2018: A guided one hour tour around the farm including a container of berries and refreshments at 10 euros/person. The farm has great picnic spots. You can order a picnic basket for two persons at 20 euros from the store. Find out more from here: tilattavat tuotteet.pdf
