Kitee is the centre of Central Karelia in which a pleasant small town atmosphere exists side-by-side with an active countryside.
Tohmajärvi is a modern rural parish that is situated by the EU´s easternmost international border crossing at Niirala. Niirala has a regular number of over one
million crossings every year.
