From guesthouse to guesthouse


Cross the idyllic countryside of North Karelia on skis and enjoy the pure snow, white forests and frozen lakes!

February and March are the best times for skiing along the eastern border. The sun shines brightly, the snow glistens, the frozen lakes and hills are covered with a thick coat of late-winter snow. In the evening you can take a sauna and cool-off in the snow.

Period: 5-12 February, 12-19 February, 26 February-4 March*, 5-12 March, 19-26 March
Duration: 7 days, from Saturday to Saturday
Group size: 6-12 persons

The price includes:

Transfers from/to airport (one transfer on arrival/on departure day), full board; breakfast, box lunch, coffee and warm juice, dinner, sauna every evening, accommodation at 4 different guesthouses (showers, toilets, double rooms), luggage transport from place to place, English speaking guide, skis.

After the skiing tour a possibility to take additional nights incl. full board at one of the guesthouses.


PROGRAM

Day 1
Arrival at Kuopio airport, transfer to Puukarin Pysäkki (about 160 km).
Day 2
Familiarizing with skies, waxing course, sauna short course of practical Finnish. Skiing tour around Paajalanvaara in the afternoon
Day 3
Skiing on a lake and over a hill, about 31 km. Accommodation at Laitalan lomat.
Day 4
Skiing over fields and through forests to guesthouse Pihlajapuu, about 27 km.
Day 5
You can have a day-out at Pihlajapuu or take a short skiing tour to Nälkömäki (12 km). In the evening smoke sauna at Minna’s. Glow-fried salmon for dinner. Overnight at Pihlajapuu.
Day 6
Skiing over hills to Männikkölänpirtti, 20-25 km. Overnigt in Männikkölänpirtti (small groups) or in Hyvärilä (bigger groups).
Day 7
Skiing to Bomba and back, 15-26 km. At Bomba Karelian Village; souvenirs, handicrafts, Café. Overnight at the same place as the night before, in Männikkölänpirtti. In the evening typical Karelian dinner and sauna with snow.
Day 8
Transfer to Kuopio. Hei, hei!

Daily skiing about 12-32km.

What should you take with you?
Something warm, something windproof for skiing. A ski cap or hat, a shawl, a small rucksack, a thick winter coat for cold days, swimming suit, something casual to wear after sauna (e.g. jogging suit), sweater for cold days, warm winter shoes and slippers.
