Kitee´s AIMO
Kitee’s AIMO area is an arena of rally cars, motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and aero planes (Kitee Airfield). There are plans to make a dog activity field and a shooting range there too. The Finnish Championships of several sports are organized in the Kitee´s AIMO every year.
Pesäpallo (Finnish baseball)
Pesäpallo is a popular
hobby for many young people especially in Central Karelia area. The
local team of Kitee is Kiteen Pallo. Almost every week during the
summer, KiPa’s matches gathers thousands of fans to the Rantakenttä
field.
Culture and music
There are several amateur theatres, choirs and bands in the area of Kitee. In the Music Institute of Central Karelia many young people are playing musical instruments. The world famous band Nightwish comes from Kitee.
EDUCATION
After comprehensive schools (9 years) there are several options for further studies in Kitee. The upper secondary school of Kitee provides higher education, and North Karelia College Kitee produces professionals in various fields.
